Most important of all is that you remember to obtain a tourist visa to the United States. Here you have the required link (you also need to fill out the first night in the US and also flight number).
Cost and expenses
The main fee for the trip is 2.050 EUR (approx 19.500 NOK, 20.900 SEK and 15.200 DKK). This covers the organizational cost for the entire program - including the workshop at Standford University. It also covers cost for bus transportation between venues and all the common lunches.
In addition you should budget for cost for flights (from your home town to New York, from New York to San Fransisco and back home from San Fransisco), hotels and dinners. We will arrange common dinners - but attendance is voluntary and the cost will be invoiced.
Maiken in Expertreiser will, if you want, take care of the hotel bookings and flights for you. Here is her contact info: firstname.lastname@example.org Mobile: +47 918 30 016
We would like to be as flexible as possible regarding attendance and cancellation. If you have signed up for the trip, but are prevented for going - please let us know as soon at possible. If the cancellation occurs later than 14 day prior to the trip - and we are not able to fill your seat - we will have to bill you for the incurred costs approx 50 % of the price for the trip.
We start Sunday evening
The formal program start Monday morning 7AM the 1th of October at the hotel. We will then go through the program for the entire week. Everybody will get a notice in advance regarding in which meeting room we will meet. Be sure to have breakfast in advance.
For the people arriving earlier there will be an informal dinner Sunday night at approx 19:00. We will notify you in good time and you are welcome to join.
In New York, we'll be staying at The New York Edition Hotel at Madison Avenue.
The address of the hotel is:
The New York Edition
5 Madison Avenue
NEW YORK, NY 10010

The most important thing is to wear functional clothes that you are comfortable in. Good shoes are important as there will be some walking between venues in both New York and San Francisco. In Silicon Valley clothing like dress jackets and jeans are sufficient. In New York the dress code is a little more formal - so here a dress/suit (or the equivalent) is recommended. There is, however, no need to put on a tie. Also be prepared for a rainfall and bring a good jacket for the evenings in San Francisco, since cold fog can bring down the temperature at night.
